NC Recreational Fishermen Caught 13.6 Million Lbs of Saltwater Fish in 2009

North Carolina's total recreational landings were at 13.6 million pounds in 2009, a 15 percent decrease from 2008, according to an annual landings report produced by the N.C. Division of Marine Fisheries.

Dolphinfish remained the top recreational species, with 3.9 million pounds harvested in 2009, followed by bluefish, 971,132 pounds, Spanish mackerel, 892,641 pounds, king mackerel, 864,237 pounds, and spotted seatrout, 833,577 pounds.
